Loco Moco
Hawaiian comfort food — sticky rice topped with beef patties, a fried egg, and rich homemade beef gravy.
Ingredients
- 2 C rice
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 ½ C beef broth
- 2 drops Worcestershire sauce (Lea & Perrins)
- 2 eggs
- 1 T butter
- 1 T flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Make the sticky rice.
- Mix salt, pepper, and ground beef together, then form into patties. A pound usually makes about six patties.
- Cook the patties until cooked through and transfer to a plate. Drain the grease from the pan.
- In the same pan, melt the butter, add the flour, and combine to make a roux. Add the beef broth and Worcestershire. Mix until smooth and the gravy starts to thicken.
- Add the patties back into the gravy and coat both sides.
- Fry the eggs over easy.
- To plate: rice on the bottom, then beef patties, then eggs, then cover with more gravy. Like always — enjoy!
